Patrick Lee Beatty 76, Milan, passed away at sunrise on Sunday, June 25, 2023 after a long illness at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.
Pat was born February 22, 1947 in Sandusky to Bob and Betty Beatty.
Pat was a 1966 graduate of Sandusky High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy to serve his country in the Vietnam War while aboard a guided missile frigate, the USS Sterett. While overseas he made many memories, which were later shared with family and friends over a cold beer.
After his honorable discharge in 1970, he was blessed to return home and then set out to live life, meet his wife, and begin a family. In the year 1972, Pat married Melinda (Mortensen), and the life-long bond between a Sandusky "city boy" and a Milan "farm girl" began. Pat and Melinda celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in October of 2022. They purchased their forever-home in Milan in 1975. With much hard work and help from friends and family they transformed the historic home and grounds over the years into a beautiful space with many unique finds, stonework, beautiful gardens, and water features that remain a source of pride to the Beatty Family to
this day.
Pat loved the community of Milan and the surrounding areas. He made many friends as an antique dealer, car salesmen, and passionate supporter of Edison sports. His strong shoulders, independent spirit, and appreciation for the historic homes of Milan inspired him to become the Village Painter from 2006 to 2022. He always enjoyed going for a ride, and pointing out the many homes he painted over the years. Pat's greatest source of pride was his two sons, who he supported in all their athletic endeavors and life adventures. Pat had many cherished memories hunting rabbits on family farms and fishing on Pipe Creek with his father. He sought to create similar memories while hunting and fishing with his sons and his brother, Mike. Pat's other lifelong passion was scouring the Ohio countryside and many shops for antiques, duck decoys, and unique vintages items.
Pat is survived by his wife Melinda Beatty (Mortensen); son ,Ryan Beatty and Nicole Wigington, son, Chase Beatty and Ashley Beatty (Bush); brother, Michael Beatty and Amy Beatty (Zimmerman); nephew, Spencer Beatty and Colleen Beatty (McCarron); grandchildren Kenzie and Parker Beatty, cousins of the Rudolph and Miller families, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Robert Beatty and mother Elizabeth Beatty (Dickerjack).
A Celebration of Life will be hosted Saturday August 26, 2023 from 4-8 P.M. at the Berlin Township Conservation Club, 12217 Chapin Rd., Berlin Heights. The family hopes the celebration will invoke many stories, laughs, and fond memories.
