Dennis (Jim) E. Palmer, 86, of Sandusky, passed away Monday, June 26, 2023 at the Ohio Veterans Home after a lengthy illness.
He was born July 1, 1936 in Clendenin, W. Virginia to Joseph and Mabel (Canterbury) Palmer.
Dennis was a veteran of the United States Army who proudly served his country from 1954 to 1957. He was employed as a Die Setter at Modern Tool & Die for 28 years. He had an adventurous spirit and owned and flew a plane for many years. He always enjoyed and owned cool cars, one favorite was an Italian Isetta, then came children and fun luxuries went by the wayside. In his spare time, he enjoyed scuba diving and playing the guitar and harmonica. He also enjoyed tinkering on anything and became a Jack-of-all trades and a master of many. He could fix anything mechanical from lawn mowers to cars.
Dennis is survived by his daughter, Pam (Steve) Pittman, of Newark, OH; son, Paul Palmer, of Knoxville, TN; sister, Doris Hayes, of Twinsburg, OH; grandchildren, Alyssa and Hanna Pittman; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty (Royal) Palmer; and brothers, Bob Palmer, Bill Palmer, and Donald Palmer.
Friends may call on Saturday, July 8, 2023 from 11:00-11:45am at Toft Funeral Home, Wakeman Chapel, 16 Cooper St., Wakeman. Funeral services will immediately follow, starting at 11:45, with Steve Cain presiding. Burial will follow in Wakeman Cemetery.
