Mark Rosche

Mark Rosche, age 72 of Clyde, passed away Sunday, July 9, 2023, at the Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky. Mark was born November 2, 1950, in Massillon, OH, the son of John and Ruby (Weidner) Rosche .

Mark graduated from Tuslaw High School in 1968. From there he went onto Kent State University and earned his B.S. in Education in 1972. From 1979 until 1981 Mark was a teacher and coach in East Canton Schools where he was nicknamed "The Blue and Gold All-Star." He then moved on to Delaware City Schools until, in 1983, a job opportunity brought Mark to the community he would come to love and support as he took a job as an 8th grade English Teacher at McPherson Middle School in Clyde. He earned his Master's Degree through Bowling Green State University in 1986, and, after teaching for 31 years, Mark eventually retired in 2010.

Mark's impact on the Clyde community can not be understated. His involvement ranged from teaching, coaching, mentoring and, of course, announcing. Mark was heralded as the "voice" of the Clyde Fliers when in 1988-89 he assumed the role as the announcer for the Clyde HS Varsity, JV, and Freshman Football, Clyde HS boys and girls Varsity and JV basketball, PeeWee football, and middle school football. This was a role he would remain in until the fall of 2022. His distinctive voice was a staple at many Clyde sporting events throughout his tenure.

Mark viewed Clyde's youth as his own family. Whether it was a classroom, stage, field, mat, or a court, Mark enjoyed having a hand in, and watching, Clyde's students excel in all of their endeavors.

Mark is survived by his siblings: Lois Ann Price of Fairfax, VA, Judy (Larry) Longworth of Massillon, OH, Tom (Jan) Rosche of Coral Springs, FL and Larry Rosche of Ravenna, OH; and 12 nieces and nephews.

Mark is preceded in death by his parents.

Friends and community members are invited to a Celebration of Life for Mark on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at 7:00pm at the Clyde High School Gymnasium, 1015 Race Street, Clyde, OH 43410. Mark will be placed to rest with his parents at Calvary Cemetery in Massillon, OH.

The Rosche family wishes to give their heartfelt thanks to Cheryl Hicks and her team for their compassionate care of Mark during his illness.

Memorial donations may be made in Mark's honor to the Clyde High School Athletics Department, 1015 Race St. Clyde, OH 43410, or to The Bellevue Hospital Foundation, 1400 West Main Street, Bellevue, Ohio 44811.
