Dennis "Denny" Luma, 67, died unexpectedly at his home in Huron, Ohio, on July 13, 2023. He was born in Sandusky, Ohio, on August 30, 1955, to Bernard and Patricia (Holtzapple) Luma.
Denny was a 1973 graduate of Margaretta High School in Castalia, Ohio. He played tackle on the varsity football team becoming the most valuable player.
After graduation, he was employed at Vulcan Materials in Sandusky as a foreman leaving in 1982 to work at Bat Shelder-Baylord in Chicago as a General Manager for one year. He furthered his career while employed by Wabash Alloys in 1983 becoming a supervisor and worked his way to Vice President of Operations. During this time, he earned his MBA in 1993. In 2001, he became President and Chief Operating Officer of Superior Aluminum Alloys in New Haven, Indiana, retiring in 2022.
Denny's biggest passion was restoring his '63 Nova, '49 Cadillac, '49 Buick and his '46 Chevy Cab Over. He also enjoyed riding his Harley Road King and loved his cats.
Denny leaves behind his wife, Christine (Wyatt) Luma; daughters Tiffany Luma, Columbus, Ohio, Tevon Luma, Fort Wayne, Indiana and his granddaughter Makaila Luma, Fort Wayne, Indiana; his brother Michael Luma (Birdie) of Castalia, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he preceded in death by his grandparents Otis and Althea Holtzapple and his brothers Kevin and Bruce Luma.
Friends may call on Monday, July 17, 2023, from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 East Perkins Avenue, Sandusky. Pastor Wally Gilbert will be officiating. Entombment will take place at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
