Jane "Jayne" (Gonter) Baum, 99, recently of Huron and formerly of Sandusky, passed away July 18, 2023 at The Meadows at Osborn Park.
She was born December 4, 1923 in Shanesville, Ohio and graduated from Sugarcreek-Shanesville High School in 1941. She attended Canton Actual Business College and worked for OPS in Elyria.
In 1944, she entered Cook County School of Nursing in Chicago, graduating in 1947. She worked at Hines Veteran's Hospital in Chicago and the U.S. Marine Hospital in Cleveland before moving to Sandusky, where she worked at Good Samaritan hospital for 18 years.
Jayne is survived by her daughter, Barbara, of Huron; son, Ken (Ginger), of Fulshear, TX; grandson, Kyle (Natalen), of Austin, TX; granddaughter, Mallory (Jeffrey) Lousteau, of Houston, TX; and two great-granddaughters.
In addition to her parents, Edward and Lydia Gonter, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Robert; and sister, Ellen.
Cremation will take place and services will be private.
