Catherine M. Hinds, age 66, of Castalia, died Thursday afternoon, May 10, 2012, in Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky. following a brief illness.
She was born July 15, 1945, in Summerhill, PA, and was a 1963 graduate of Western Reserve High School. She was a caregiver to many families. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and was an excellent baker, cookbook collector, and poetry writer. Cathy and her family enjoyed vacationing on Manitulin Insland, Ontario, Canada, and was a member of the Sandusky Community Church of the Nazarene.
Cathy is survived by her husband Rick, to whom she was married for 42 years; one daughter Theresa (Terry) "Mike" Duskin of Fremont; 3 sons Richard Hinds of Green Springs, Gregory "Kelly" Hinds of Sandusky, and Bill "Meridith" Hinds of Clyde; 7 grandchildren Shawn, Gregory, Seth, Cachae, Austin, Domonique, and Jenna; 3 great grandchildren Brody, Ty, and Callie; one brother James Oswalt; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Sheldon and Mary (Penrod) Phillips, and one sister Alice Sommers.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Tuesday, May 15, 2012, in the Ransom Funeral Home, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia, where funeral services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, May 16, 2012. The Rev. David Flack will officiate. Burial will be in Castalia Cemetery.
