She was a devoted member of the Immaculate Conception Church and the former St. Sebastian's Church as well as the Altar Rosary Society. Maureen was the Bismark Community babysitter and cared for over 70 children in the close-knit area. She became a grandma to many, through her support of her children and grandchildren she could be found and sometimes heard at Seneca East softball and football games, as well as at productions at the Bellevue Society for the Arts and was an avid supporter of Bellevue Bumpers Softball for 12 years. In her later years, Maureen enjoyed traveling with her husband to Florida every winter, annual trips with Trevor, Evan and Val to Disney World, catching up monthly with her classmates at either breakfast or lunch, and helping her kids and grandchildren with anything they needed.
She is survived by her children: Valerie Phillips of Bellevue, Cheryl (Scott) Schaffer of Bellevue, Edward J. (Drehma) Phillips Jr. of Bellevue; 4 Grandchildren: Evan (Lindsey) Schaffer, Trevor Schaffer, Koen Daviduk, and Aislyn Phillips; great grandson, Jack Charles Schaffer; sisters: Mary Alice (Ron) Raifsnider, Jane Wobser, Barbara (Roy) Smith, Margaret (Steve) Musser, Helen (Jack) Kaiser; and sister-in-law, Janice Ruffing and brother-in-law, Norbert (Gail) Phillips.
The family members are eternally grateful to all the Promedica Hospice employees, especially Amanda and Ann, who were there to help the family over the last part of her life. Their relationship with Maureen was so special and their love and care for her will not be forgotten.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her three brothers: Paul, Bobby, William "Bill"; and sister, Joan Sands.
