Robert (Bob) Allen Jaycox, Jr.

Robert (Bob) Allen Jaycox, Jr., 74, of Berlin Heights and formerly of Lorain, passed away at his home on July 31, 2023.

He was born March 28, 1948 to Capt. Robert Jaycox, Sr. and the late Virginia (née Traxler) Jaycox.

Bob graduated from Lorain High School in 1966 and was a standout Basketball and Baseball player. He excelled at sports throughout his life. He joined the US Army after High School in 1966, served as a Radio Operator & he received a Purple Heart while proudly serving his country with 1st Air Cav Infantry in Vietnam before being honorably discharged.

When Bob returned home, he attended LCCC, and worked at Lorain Shipbuilding, City of Lorain as bridge operator, painting & drywalling with his brother-in-law. One of his greatest loves, however, was the lake & fishing. He was Captain of the Little Miss Charter Boat serving alongside of his dad for years, who owned The Majestic Fishing Fleet. Every day he enjoyed being with people on the water and competing with his dad for which boat would catch the most fish!

Bob had a love for life and his family. Family holidays were always very special since he was a small boy and carried those traditions forward with his own family of girls.

His personality was larger than life and he was loved by everyone who met him. He had a zest for life & lived it to the fullest. Recognizable by his handsome smile, tanned body every summer, sporty clothing, he loved singing karaoke until agent orange (Cancer) took his voice box and he could no longer sing. He suffered a debilitating stroke in 2019. Still, if you saw him, Bob smiled. He will be sadly missed by his family.

Bob is survived by his father Capt. Robert Jaycox of Lorain. His sister Carol (Mike) Pozega of Lorain. and Aunt Lynne (Tom Obee) Carole of Macomb, Michigan.

Bob lived with his daughter Lisa Jaycox and her husband Gary (Caruloff) in Berlin Heights, Ohio. He is also survived by his 2 additional daughters Christie Jaycox of Lorain and Joni Jaycox of Elyria. Niece Nicole Pozega of Avon Lake; grandchildren, Gary (Liz) Jaycox, Ashley Caruloff, Vincent Rogers, Jocelyn Castillo, Donovan Wargo; great grandchildren: Skyler Jaycox, Ethan Rogers, Leilani Rogers, Iona Rogers and Jionni Rogers

Bob was preceded in death by his mother Virginia in 2007, and his grandparents.

There will be a celebration of life at a later date, to be announced.
