Gary Champney, 74, of Wakeman, passed away Sunday August 6, 2023.
He was born on May 5, 1949, in Norwalk, Ohio to Milford and E. Elizabeth (Sanders) Champney.
Gary graduated from Western Reserve High School. He then went on to serve in the US Army. He worked at Ford Motor Company for 30 years. After his retirement from Ford, he went on to work for the Wakeman Township for several years. Gary was a member of the Wakeman Eagles. In his spare time, he enjoyed going to NHRA races, flying model airplanes, golfing and spending time with his friends and family.
Gary is survived by his daughter, Cheryl (Eric) Bersagel, and granddaughters Lexi and Ali Bersagel of Fort Collins, CO, sisters, Judith Champney, Melissa Springer-Mest; brother, Ronald Champney and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kathy Champney.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday August 12, 2023, at 10 am in Wakeman Cemetery, State Route 303, Wakeman, Ohio. A celebration of life will follow at the Wakeman Eagles Club.
