Mary Lou (Maldonado) Cantu, 90, residing in Sandusky, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 surrounded by her family.
Mary Lou was born on July 23, 1933 to the late Felix and Frances (Falcon) Maldonado.
Mary was employed at Firelands Hospital for many years and was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting and gardening.
Mary Lou is survived by her husband of 57 years, Daniel Cantu; three children, Steven Cantu of Columbus, Lisa (Jude) Gennari of Sandusky, and Fabian Cantu of Sandusky; one grandson, Blaise Gennari of TN; sister, Harriet Lopez of Fremont; brother, Peter Maldonado of Castalia; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Mary Lou is preceded in death by her son, Michael Cantu; sisters, Frances Rendon, Susie Loredo, and Pauline Ramon; and brothers, John and Richard Maldonado.
Friends may call on Sunday, August 27, 2023 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, OH. A Prayer Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:30 am on Monday, August 28, 2023 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at10:00 am at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 428 Tiffin Ave., Sandusky, OH with Fr. Zach Brown presiding. Burial will follow in the Catholic Cemeteries of Sandusky.
