Raymond Freeman, 82, of Vermilion, passed away late Mon., August 21, 2023 at Mercy Health - Lorain Hospital.
He was born on June 6, 1941 in Coeburn, VA to the late Garland "Bud" Freeman and Pearl (Payne) Groesch.
Ray married his wife, Sandra (Massey) Freeman, on November 7, 1959, and they had five children. Raymond worked for Ford Motor Co. for nearly 30 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling, playing and working on computers, and his dog Josie. In his earlier years, he enjoyed mushroom hunting and riding his Harley. He loved his Ford cars, especially the T- Bird. He was a member of the Sandusky USBC and the local UAW.
Ray is survived by his daughters; Lisa Weaver, of Vermilion, and Sonya (Leroy Sizemore) Phelps, of Sandusky; sons, Dennis (Darla) Freeman, of Lorain, Robert (Leslie) Freeman, of Monroeville, and Gary (Angela) Freeman, of Wakeman; grandchildren, James (Dawn) Verhovec, Stephanie (Ben) Mayse, Brittney Freeman, Tera (Brian) Licata, Kristin (Jayme) McMillan, Ashley Phelps, Guerin Phelps, Zach (Allyson) Phelps, Troy (Kandice) Phelps, Andrew (Allie) Cline, Natasha (Jermaine) Jones, and Leroy Sizemore II; 23 great-grandchildren; siblings, Wayne Freeman and Darlene Brown; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Sandra, in June of this year; brother, Ronnie Freeman; and sister-in-law, Janie Freeman.
Friends may call Mon., Aug. 28 from 4-6 P.M. at Toft Funeral Home, Hinman Chapel, 38 South St., Berlin Heights. Funeral services will be held on Tues. at 11 A.M. at Sandusky Church of God, 1018 W. Bogart Rd., Sandusky, with one hour of visitation prior (10-11 A.M.). Revs. Sam and Harvey Studer will officiate. Burial will follow at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
