Gary R. Linkey, 77, a resident of the Ohio Veterans Home and formerly of Fremont passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at his residence.
He was born April 19, 1946, in Fremont and was a graduate of Fremont Ross High School.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran and was honorably discharged after serving in the Vietnam Era. He retired from Sames Company in Michigan, where he was a paint technician for many years. Prior to this, he had been employed at the Eckrich Company in Fremont. His hobbies included assembling models and model trains.
He is survived by one sister, Nancy (Frederick, Jr.) Lawrence of Fremont; close nephews, Frederick (Michelle) Lawrence, III of Oak Harbor and Paul (Christine) Lawrence of Findlay; two great nieces, Jennifer (William) Straley and Marykayla Lawrence; two great nephews, Joshua (Abigail) Lawrence and Frederick Lawrence, IV; and other nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Deloris (Carr) Linkey; one brother, Myron P. Linkey and one niece.
Friends may call from 11:00 am until time of military service at 11:30 am on Friday, September 8, 2023, in the Ohio Veterans Home, Secrest Chapel, 3416 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Pastor Dan Vickey will officiate. Burial will be in the Ohio Veterans Home Cemetery, Sandusky.
