Richard Johnston, 71, residing in Sandusky, passed away in his home Monday, September 11, 2023.
Richard was born on June 7, 1952 in Manchester, Connecticut to the late Richard and Patricia Johnston.
Richard was an over the road truck driver for over 20 years, an automotive mechanic at T Gray Automotive for over 16 years and a ride mechanic for Cedar Point for two seasons before retiring in 2015. He enjoyed telling stories of his truck driving days, classic cars, building model cars and trucks, classic rock, blues and BBQ. Richard also enjoyed getting together with friends and family.
Richard is survived by his wife Sharon "Tia" (Bunge) Johnston, whom he married on May 5th, 1990. He is survived by his two sons, Josh (Katie) Johnston of Maumee, Ohio, Nathan (Becca) Johnston of Orrville, Ohio; Two brothers Greg (Michelle) Johnston from Kentucky, and Erick (Darlene) Johnston of New Hampshire; 9 grandchildren, 2 canine kids, numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by his son Richard C. Johnston III and brother David "Chip" Johnston.
The Family will have a brief memorial service at 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 3917 Columbus Avenue Sandusky, Ohio followed by a Party/BBQ.
