Janis I. (McDonald) Smith, 74, of Willard, Ohio, died on Friday night, September 22, 2023, at Fisher-Titus Medical Center in Norwalk, Ohio.

She was born on December 9. 1948, in Norwalk, Ohio, to the late Robert and Arlene (Reynolds) McDonald and attended Norwalk High School.

A lifelong area resident, Janis was a people-person, who loved spending time with her family and friends, and appreciated a good cold beer. She enjoyed traveling, her golf cart, pontoon boat rides, sewing, cooking, canning, gambling, and following her grandchildren and being an advocate for their accomplishments.

Janis had worked for the former ACMI plant, Norwalk Furniture, Don's Coffee Corner, and bartended for the Norwalk Eagles, and V.F.W. She was a member of Norwalk Eagles, V.F.W., and Norwalk American Legion.

She is survived by her daughters, Vickie (Ken) Ruppert of Norwalk, and Linda (Jason Drummond) Glock of Gibsonburg; siblings, Kathy (Roy) Duskin of Norwalk, and Dennis (Jane) McDonald of Norwalk; 5 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Dale Beck and Leon Smith; companion, Larry Mueller; and brother, Gary McDonald.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at St. Joseph Cemetery, in Monroeville beginning at 11 a.m. with a celebration of her life to follow, beginning at 1 p.m. (also on September 28th) at the Sycamore Hills Golf Course Lounge, 14 Sycamore Dr., Norwalk.
