Jean M. Stookey

Jean M. Stookey, 86, residing in Sandusky, passed away in the afternoon of Thursday, September 28, 2023 at Firelands Regional Medical Center.

Jean was born on January 14, 1937 in Norwalk, Ohio to the late Joseph and Marguerite (Schostek) Boehmer.

Jean graduated St. Mary's High School in 1955. She retired from Deco products in 2000 after 10 years of service. Following retirement, she volunteered at Care & Share. Jean was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sandusky Eagles #444 Where she and her husband Jim were officers of the Eagles atom league for 40 years. She enjoyed playing cards, puzzles, reading, Cleveland sports, country music, traveling to Branson, Missouri and spending time with her family and friends.

Jean is also survived by her son, John (Carla) Stookey of Sandusky, Ohio, daughters, Janet Saylor of Sandusky, Ohio, Julie (Chris) Baker of Sandusky, Ohio, 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, 3 brothers, Robert Boehmer of Dayton, Ohio, Thomas (Ruth Ann) Boehmer of Florida, and William (Luann) Boehmer of Florida and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, Jean is preceded in death by husband, James R Stookey in 2004, son, James J Stookey in 2003, and daughter in law, Pamela Stookey-Simons in 2023.

Friends may call on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 from 8:30 am until time of Prayer Service at 9:30 am at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave. Sandusky, Ohio. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church. The Rev. Monte Hoyles will preside. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
