Darthanyaun Lakeva Harold Haywood, 43, of Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly on Wed., Oct. 4, 2023 in Cleveland.
He was born Oct. 3, 1980 in the west side of Chicago (known as "K Town") to Drenediea Haywood and Harold Ott. He attended Roswell B. Mason Elementary where he graduated from eighth grade. Darthanyaun then attended John Marshall High School where he played football before he left to pursue his dreams as a hip hop artist.
At an early age, Darthanyaun discovered the love of the Lord. He casually attended MRCC in Chicago and was also a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. He moved to Ohio in 2002, trading the big city life for small town living. Darthanyaun was known very well as the hip hop artist "Shug Duge Da King" and succeeded in being an opening performer for many main stream rappers over the years. Darthanyaun was also a very talented barber that enjoyed being a personal barber for a variety of people. He could be described as a "hard working family man" who enjoyed gambling, being a jokester, writing, and most of all, spending quality time with his family and friends. He often spent his free time with his favorite people "hanging out" or with his music producer, Chandler "Fat Head" Houghtlen, making music. He was currently employed at Firelands Vending in Sandusky.
Darthanyan is survived by his daughters, Delesha Unique Haywood, of Bowling Green, and Shariell Katrice Haywood, of Sandusky; mother, Drenediea Haywood, of Fremont; brother, Jonathan Haywood, of Portage, IN; sister, Kenynia Insernola (Vernon) Howard, Jr., of Sandusky; sister/cousin, Achante Haywood, of Cleveland; grandson, Naveen Montalvo, of Bowling Green; fiancée, Jill Lyn; Godmother, LaShawn Wallace; special nephews, Demetrius "Rocko" Wallace, Vernon Howard III, Demetrius S.E. Howard; special uncle, Lavar Haywood; and a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Ott; brother, Demetrius Lamonte Haywood; grandparents, Elizabeth White Haywood, Sam Ott Sr., and Nola Miller Ott; and mother of his children, Shanell Allen.
Friends may call on Wed., Oct. 18 from 11 am until memorial services begin at 12 pm Noon 12:00 pm at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1215 Pierce St., Sandusky, with Lady Shannon Banks Momon officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the funeral home to help the family with expenses.
