Jerome A. Gessner, 88, Sandusky, died on Saturday, May 26, 2012, in Firelands Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Castalia on November 18, 1923, and was a 1941 graduate of Margaretta High School.
Jerome served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the 822 Company.
He was employed by Sandusky Foundry and Machine for 43 years, retiring in 1985.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post 2529, Sandusky, and loved to bowl.
He is survived by his niece, Ann (Toby) Johnson; nephews. Norm (Rhea) Gessner, Dean (Su Cha) Gessner, Vince Gessner, Jr., Jim (Brenda) Gessner, and Ken (Yung Suk) Gessner; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Katheryne (Hacker) Gessner; brothers, Paul Gessner and Vince Gessner, Sr.; and a nephew, Terry Gessner.
Friends may call on Wednesday, May 30, 2012, from 5-7 P.M. in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 P.M. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Sand Hill Cemetery, where the American Legion Post 83 Honor Guard will perform military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to one's favorite charity.
