William "Big Bill" Arrington 74, Sandusky, transitioned into eternal rest on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at his home.
He was born on November 18, 1948 in Tallulah, LA, and was raised by his mother Emma Lee (Arrington) Gowdy and grandfather Willie Arrington.
At a young age of 5 he moved to Sandusky with his mother and siblings and attended Sandusky High School.
He was drafted in to the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, receiving his GED while in the Army and was discharged with the rank of Sergeant.
Bill worked for Union Chain, Van Dresser and Mississippi Lime, where he retired after 29 years.
He loved playing pool, with his game of choice being 9 ball, fishing, yard work, and he was an all around handy man.
Bill was blessed with a loving and close knit family. He is survived by his wife, Geneva (Mills) Arrington, which they cherished 58 years of memories together and 48 years of marriage; daughter, Michelle Amison-Lipiec, Sandusky; sons, William "Will" Arrington Jr., Marvin Arrington, Derrick (Tasheia) Arrington, Marcus McLaughlin, Dana (Brittany) McLaughlin all of Sandusky, and Patrick Arrington of Indiana; fifteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; sister, Bonnie Johnson, Las Vegas, NV; brother, Charles Gowdy, Sandusky; special niece, Cheryl Scott; sister-in-law, Frances (Cooper) Arrington; special friend, Javan (Christine) Webb; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Emma Lee; brothers, Freddie Atkins, Robert "Butch" Arrington, and Mark "Sweet Mook" Gowdy; uncles, Willie Arrington, James Arrington, Paul Love and Peter Love; sister-in-law, Jackie Jackson and grandfather, Willie Arrington.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 12 P.M., Noon in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery, with the American Legion Post 83 and V.F.W. Post 2529 Honor Guard providing the military tribute.
