Roger P. Addy, age 90, of Sandusky, died Sunday morning, November 14, 2010, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, after a brief illness.

He was born September, 26, 1920, in Coshocton, OH. He served in the U.S. Army and was in the 100th division of combat engineers. Roger worked as a masonry contractor for over 50 years and was in the Bricklayers Union, Local #46. He enjoyed being an outdoorsman, collecting rocks, hunting, and woodworking. He also enjoyed working on the farm and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Norma (Altvater) Addy; three daughters Patricia C. (Karl) Steuk, AZ, Margaret J. (William) Alanich, WY, and Sharon D. Nichols, NV; son Jerry P. (Kay) Addy, Columbus; eight grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; two sisters- in-law Doris R. Whyde and Mary Jeanne Altvater; brother in-law James E. Whyde; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and care giver Brenda Smith.

Roger was preceded in death by her parents James and Rose Ann (Parks) Addy; four brothers; and three sisters.

Friends may call from 6-8 PM Wednesday at Ransom Funeral Home, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia, where services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Jeanne Slusher will officiate. Burial will be in Venice Cemetery.
