Cecilia A. Brown, age 90, of Kelleys Island, died Thursday night, November 4, 2010, at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, after a brief illness.
She was born July 17, 1920, on Kelleys Island and graduated from Kelleys Island School in 1937. She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church, Kelleys Island, and was always involved with the church. Cecilia was a charter member of the Kelleys Island Historical Association and member of the Cleveland Museum of Art. She was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, taught English as a second language, and worked in the library. Cecilia worked at the polls and volunteered at her church wherever she lived, including secretary and treasurer for the women"s group and as recording secretary to the church council for Zion United Methodist Church, Kelleys Island.
She is survived by her daughter Claudia Brown, Kelleys Island, and many nieces and nephews.
Cecilia was preceded in death by her husband Charles Fredrick Brown in 1992; parents Henry and Anna (Feddersen) Riedy; two sisters Mae Norris and Iva Erne; and four brothers Theodore, Al, Gilbert, and Eugene Riedy.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2010, at 12 noon at Zion United Methodist Church, Kelleys Island. The Rev. Beth McKee will officiate. Burial will be in Kelleys Island Cemetery.
