Lewis Bailey

Lewis Bailey, age 81, of Castalia, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday morning, July 4, 2012, at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky following a sudden illness.

He was born May 3, 1931 in Insko, Ky., and served in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict. He retired in 1988 after 31 years employment with Ford Motor Co. and was owner of Bailey Builders. Lewis was a member of Sandusky Community Church of Nazarene. He was a former member of the Sandusky Bowling Association and the NRA. He enjoyed traveling, golfing, writing gospel songs, gardening, helping others, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Louetta (Reed) Bailey; four daughters Mary (Ted) Gearheart, Castalia, Martha Gaye (Dan) Dyer, Castalia, Mattie Ema (Denny) Miller, Monroeville, and Marilyn (Michael) Long, Castalia; two sons David (Clara) Bailey, Castalia, and John (Rose) Bailey, Berlin Heights; 17 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; four sisters Glenna Reed, Blanchester, Glada (Duane) Berger, Batavia, Gladys (Paul) Fry, Batavia, and Gledie Jones, Williamsburg; four brothers Ledford Bailey, Milford, Lemon Bailey, Batavia, Leondias (Pam) Bailey, Columbia, TN, and Lawrence (Patty) Bailey, Berea, KY; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and loved ones.
Lewis was preceded in death by his parents Forest and Mattie Lou (Walters) Bailey, and infant brother Walter Bailey.

Friends may call from 4-8 PM Friday and 1:30 PM until time of services at 2:30 PM Saturday in Sandusky Community Church of the Nazarene, 1617 Milan Rd., Sandusky, OH. The Rev. David Flack will officiate. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron
