Margaret M. Windau, age 90, of Castalia died Sunday night October 17, 2010, at her residence.
She was born May 3, 1920. She graduated from Vermilion High School in 1938 and retired from St. Mary's Catholic School. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sandusky; the Altar and Rosary Society of the Church; Oxford Grange; and the Erie County Farm Bureau Council. She loved flower gardening and collecting rosaries, which she had one from every state and even Rome and several European countries. Margaret was an avid Buckeyes and Cleveland Indians fan.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years Roland Windau; four daughters: Martha (Bob) Moser, Kathryn Bollini, Barb (Greg) Siesel, all of Castalia, and Susan (Gregg) Moore, Willard; son Gary (Linda) Windau, Castalia; foster son Gene (Kathleen) Sharp, Clyde; 17 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; three foster grandchildren; nine foster great grandchildren; sister in-law Lois (Karl) Moll; brother in-law Albert Windau; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Margaret was preceded in death by her son David A. Windau, October 20,1979; son in-law Raymond Bollini; parents John and Karolina (Hudimac) Novotny; sisters Mary Novotny, Ann (Donald) Trinter; and Emily (William) Shirkey; brothers John Novotny, Emil (Dorothy) Novotny; and sister in-laws Jeanne (Robert) Kramer and Audrey Windau.
Friends may call from 2-9 PM Wednesday at Ransom Funeral Home, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia. The Rosary service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday at Ransom Funeral Home followed by a 12:00 PM Mass at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. David Nuss will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
