Shirley Ann Bartlet Hahn Orshoski Spurlin, 73, of Vermilion, passed away early Thursday morning, July 19, 2012 in Stein Hospice Care Center after she fought a courageous, eight year battle with cancer.
She was born on November 13, 1938 in Athens, Ohio to the late Charles and Vivian Bartlet.
Shirley worked at Sears for 28 years and Periodical Publishers' for many years. She was a member of the American Legion Post 83 Auxiliaries and the Sandusky Eagles. Shirley was an avid reader who enjoyed crocheting, cooking, gardening, boating, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 10 years, John Spurlin; son, Virgil (Susan) Hahn, Sandusky; daughters, Barbara (Paul) Brotzki, Maumee, Ohio and Debbie (Greg) Linkenbach, Sandusky; step-son, Jim (Alicia) Spurlin, Indiana; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mable Meggit, Castalia and Carolyn Stewart, Portland, Oregon; half-sister, Brenda Yonce, Polk, Ohio; and half-brother, Terry Bartlet, Sandusky.
She was preceded in death by her former husband, Rolland Orshoski; parents; step-father, Virgil Gabriel; great-grandson, Galvin Schultz; and sister, Mary Ellen Shafer.
At Shirley's request, cremation will take place at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Friends may call at a memorial gathering at Debbie's house, 4015 Bardshar Rd., Sandusky, on Sunday, July 22, 2012 at noon.
