James Gambrell, Jr., 80, Sandusky, died on Monday, August 27, 2012, in Stein Hospice Care Center.
He was born on April 19, 1932 in Anderson, S.C.
He was employed by the Perkins Police Department for 40 years from 1969 to 2009, Farrell Cheek Steel Co., Discount Drug Mart, Erie Co. Cable Vision, Bechtel McLaughlin, City Service Cab and Singler Cab.
He is survived by his son, Kenneth Gambrell, Sandusky; nephew, Lonell Taylor, Sandusky; sister-in-law, Althea Johnson; brothers-in-law, Stan Webster and Paul McIntosh; special cousin, Corrine Gambrell; many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Annie Lee Gambrell, in 1986; second wife, Willie Gambrell, in 2011; parents, James and Aline (Richey) Gambrell, Sr.; and a brother, Leon Gambrell.
Friends may call on Tuesday, September 4, 2012, from 11 A.M. until time of funeral services at 1 P.M. in St. Stephen A.M.E. Church, 312 Neil St., Sandusky. Rev. Barbara Huston will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Stein Hospice Service, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH, 44870, or St. Stephen A.M.E. Church.
