Hilda Ree (Craig) Loper, 89, of Sandusky, passed away on Wednesday morning, September 19, 2012 in Erie County Care Facility.
She was born on July 12, 1923, in Ellisville, Alabama to the late Jim and Maggie (Johnson) Craig. She attended Choctaw Co. Training School for Girls and Bishop State Jr. College. She was baptized at Kings Chapel Baptist Church, and later joined Knights Chapel Baptist Church in Millry, Alabama, where she raised her family and loved teaching Sunday School.
She enjoyed spending her days fishing, watching the Atlanta Braves, and attending family get-togethers.
Hilda leaves to cherish her memory, daughters, Printella Diane (Craig) Hilliard, of Hammon, LA, Sharon (Loper) Shaw, of Forest Park, IL, Mary Loper, and Mattie (Joseph) Johnson, both of Sandusky; son, Quadrell (Jenny) Craig, of Sandusky; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; special friend, Arlula Land, of Millry, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and church friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Loper; son, Michael "Teddy" Johnson; brothers, Oscar (Gracie) Craig, Jim (Irma) Craig, J.C. (Ethel) Craig, and Larry Turner.
Friends may call on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 from 11 A.M. until time of funeral services at 12 noon at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Chaplain Melvin Sayler will officiate. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron. Condolences may be shared at www.toftfh.com
