JoAnn M. Burns, 71, of Sandusky, passed away on Friday afternoon, October 26, 2012, in Firelands Regional Medical Center.
She was born in Sandusky on July 24, 1941.
JoAnn was a retired employee of the State of Ohio Bureau of Employment, where she worked for over 30 years.
She loved cats, computers, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
JoAnn is survived by her children, Jeff (Jennifer) Papenfuss and Alfred (Dawn) Papenfuss, both of Sandusky, and Barb (Jerry) Dorsey, of Castalia; twelve grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and brother, Dale (Carole) Schiefley, ofSandusky.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Theda (Lewis) Schiefley; first husband, James Papenfuss; second husband, Don Burns; companion, John Kane; and a sister, Sylvia Puchalski.
At JoAnn's request, there will be no visitation and cremation will take place in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2012 from 1-3 P.M. at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Barb and Jerry Dorsey, at 8712 Rogers Rd., Castalia.
