Eugene H. "Gene" Kamann, 76, of Willard, died in his sleep Monday morning, November 19, 2012 at his residence.
He was born July 14, 1936 in Sandusky and had lived most of his life in the Willard area. Gene was a life long farmer. He also was employed at the Huron County Landfill, retiring in 2001, he owned and operated the Havana Tavern and most recently, he had worked for Greg Schafer at Stone & Earth Company.
Gene was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, enjoyed listening to polka music, playing dartball, making wine, but his true love was farming with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, the former Patricia Humphrey, one daughter: Susan (Ron) Myers of Monroeville, one son: Brian (Tami) Kamann of Willard, seven grandchildren: Anthony (Deb) Myers, Adam (Dannielle) Myers, Michael (Dezzie) Rockford, Alex Kamann, Katie Kamann, Allen Kamann, Brandon Kamann, seven great grandchildren: Amber, Cameron, Alyssa, Serenity, Maverick, Mason, and Oliver, one sister: Margaret (Gilbert) Mainzer of Norwalk, one brother: Donald (Linda) Kamann of Monroeville, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Harold & Antoinette (Neimtz) Kamann, one son: Brad Kamann, three brothers: Russell, William and Rolland Kamann, four sisters: Ruth Moser, Audrey Kamann and two infant sisters.
Friends may call Friday, November 23, 2012 from 3:00 - 8:00 PM at the Pfeil Funeral Home, Monroeville Chapel, 109 Monroe Street, Monroeville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, November 24, 2012 in the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Settlement Road, Norwalk, with the Rev. William Pifher officiating. Burial will be in the St. Alphonsus Cemetery.
