Adeline "Ruby" Matthews

Adeline "Ruby" Matthews, 82, Sandusky, died Sunday, November 18, 2012 in Providence Care Center, after a lengthy illness.

She was born on February 3, 1930 in Meridian, Mississippi, to General and Ella (Irby) Easley.

Adeline was a member of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the Mothers' Board, served as a nurse, and was a member of the Charitiettes.

She was employed by Martin Kitchen as a cook for some time until she stopped to become a homemaker.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, gardening, sewing, and going to church.

Adeline is survived by her husband of 65 years, Cebron Matthews; sons, Cebron (Jeanette) Matthews, Jr., Revs. James (Patricia) Matthews, and Willie G. Matthews; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Ernestine Easley, Meridian, MS, Margalee Walker and Julia Williamson, both of Joliet, IL; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers and sisters, Joseph Easley, Tyree Easley, Mazell Frost, Lovell Easley, Christine Young, Ella Willamson, William Easley, and Mildred Matthews.

Friends may call on Saturday, November 24, 2012 from 12 Noon until time of funeral services at 1 PM in New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 1920 Eddy Henry Way, Sandusky. Rev. Curtis J. Johnson, Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron. Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, is assisting with the arrangements.
