Helen G. Overmyer, age 94, of Norwalk, passed away Friday, November 23, 2012 at Norwalk Memorial Home.
She was born January 1, 1918 in Monroeville to the late John H. Gumbert and Ruby (Armstrong) Gumbert. She was a 1935 graduate of Monroeville High School and worked on the family farm and sold Avon products for years. After 1968 she moved to Norwalk and was a Highway Patrol dispatcher for over 10 years. She was a lifetime member of St. Peter Lutheran Church where she was involved on committees and the Women's Circle. She enjoyed baking, knitting, crocheting, traveling, going to casinos, playing cards and was a member of the Maple City Garden Club.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Kay Baum of Norwalk and Norma (Jim) Schafer of Norwalk; granddaughters, Jacqui (Jim) Visintine of Ashland, Jennifer Baum of Norwalk and Kim (Jeff) Alt of Norwalk; great-grandsons, Jake Visintine, Josef Alt and Noah Alt; a sister-in-law, Jean Bores of San Diego, CA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Overmyer in 1961; brother, John A. Gumbert; and a son-in-law, Larry Baum.
Friends may call on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at 11:00 A.M. at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 243 Benedict Avenue, Norwalk. The Rev. Roger Harms will officiate. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Monroeville.
