Orville L. Welch, 89, Sandusky, died on Thursday, November 22, 2012, in Firelands Regional Medical Center.
He was born on November 8, 1923 in Clinton, IL.
Orville was employed by Bell Technology in Massachusetts as a design engineer.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in WWII.
He loved to play the organ, and also played the guitar and banjo. Orville was a published writer who loved to read and paint.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary (Rethinger) Welch, whom he married on June 10, 1950; son, Chris (Deborah) Welch, Irondale, AL; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Susan (Inman) Welch; a son, Mark; and a brother, Forrest.
A private family service will be held in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Rev. Joe Steinbauer will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, with the American Legion Post 83 Honor Guard holding a military tribute.
