John J. "Jim" Russell, 82, of Sandusky, died peacefully Sunday afternoon, December 16, 2012 following a lengthy illness.
Jim was born November 29, 1930 in Sandusky. He was a 1948 graduate of Sandusky High School, a 1953 graduate of The Ohio State University, and had worked for both, the former Russell Flower Shoppe and the former Lyman Boats. After spending two years in the United States Army at Fort Carson, Colorado, he began working in the sales office of Sandusky Foundry and Machine/ Sandusky International, retiring after 38 ½ years. Jim was an avid sports fan, with a special affection for Ohio State football.
Jim is survived by two sons: Randy of Brooklyn, New York and Jeff of Sandusky, two grandchildren: Ben and Ally, both of Sandusky, and two older sisters: Mary Alice Hartenfeld of Gahanna and Jeanette Albert of Sandusky, who was a great source of comfort to him in his final years.
He was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 49 years, Connie (Klinger) Russell in 2008, along with his parents: Henry & Cornelia (Scherrer) Russell, and many close family members.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing or services.
