James R. "Bob" Wright, 82, of Sandusky, passed away on Thursday morning, December 27, 2012 in Stein Hospice Care Center following a lengthy illness.
He was born on May 2, 1930 in Youngstown, Ohio to the late Donald and Fern (Fryman) Wright. He was a 1948 graduate of Boardman High School in Youngstown, and graduated from Youngstown State University with a business degree.
Bob was a U.S. Air Force Veteran. He worked as a production manager for Double S Industries.
He was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sandusky. An involved member of the Boy Scouts of America, Bob received the Silver Beaver Award, co-founded the Explorer Post, and was involved in the Steward Program. He also loved camping, hiking, and woodworking.
Bob is survived by his children, Donald Wright, of Norwalk, Sarah Wright, of Sonoma, California, Mary (Bradley) Wright-Nason, of Castalia, Katie Wright, of Norwalk, and Andrew Wright, of Sandusky; grandchildren, Abigail, Gabrielle, Annie, Alyson, Jacob, and Loralie; and a brother-in-law, Joseph Chapel, of Indiana.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant son, David Wright; and sister, Jean Chapel.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Funeral services will be at 11 A.M. on Thursday, January 3, 2012 in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 503 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, with the Rev. John Mawhirter officiating. Entombment will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron, where the American Legion Post 83 Honor Guard will provide military honors.
