Frederic W. Skulina, Sr., age 91 of Bellevue passed away Saturday, December 29, 2012, at the Willows at Bellevue. He was born May 14, 1921, in Cleveland, OH, the son of the late Joseph & Bertha (Hejl) Skulina.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps serving in WWII. He moved to Bellevue in 1947. He worked for Lee's Auto Parts, Cockshutt Farm Equipment and retired after 25 years as the store manager for Danklefsen Sales.
Fred was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, a life member of Bellevue K of C Council 752 (Past Grand Knight), American Legion Post 46, a 65 year member of Bellevue Lions Club (past president) where he received the Melvin Jones Award, and a member of the Four County Young at Heart Senior Center.
He was very active in the community serving on the Bellevue Federal Credit Union Board of Directors, Bellevue Library Board of Directors , Immaculate Conception School Board and was a York Township Trustee.
On October 15, 1949, he married his wife Edith (Cramer) Skulina at the Sorrowful Mother Shrine, she survives him in Bellevue.
In addition to his wife he is survived by daughters; Judy (Doug) Picciuto of Tiffin, OH, and Mary (Greg Hochradel) Skulina of Milan MI; and sons Fred Jr. (Sue) of Findlay, OH, and Michael (Beth) of Rawson, OH. Grandchildren Lee Ann (Sean) Picciuto-Fursdon, Dan (Amanda) Picciuto, Jim (Ashleigh) Picciuto, Andrew Hochradel, Timothy Hochradel, Bob (Maria) Skulina, Kate (Nate) Miller, Clayton Skulina & Carson Skulina. Great grandchildren Bryce Hans and Brianna Picciuto. One sister in law, Betty (Joseph) Skulina and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Margaret Misischia, two brothers, William and Joseph Skulina.
Fred was an avid reader, prolific letter writer and was always up for a game of cards. He enjoyed the past 24 winters in Ft.Myers, Florida. Fred took joy in bringing happiness to others through a smile, a joke, a tight hug or a firm handshake. He was a devoted husband, loving father and proud grandpa and enjoyed spending time with all of his family.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013 from 2 - 4 - & 6 - 8 pm at Foos and Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue, where the Rosary will be recited at 1:30 pm and a Lions Club Memorial Service at 7:30 pm. A funeral Mass will be held Thursday, Jan 3, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church, 231 E. Center St., Bellevue. Burial will follow at Bellevue Catholic Cemetery with full military honors.
