Robert L. "Mr. C" Collins, 88, Sandusky, died Wednesday, January 2, 2013, in the Ohio Veterans Home.
He was born in Cuba, Alabama on April 14, 1924, and was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during WWII.
Robert was employed by Brown Industries and Vulcan Materials.
He attended Second Baptist Church, loved to barbeque, fish, sing, and entertain his family.
He is survived by his children, Gloria (Robert) Garr, Mardell (Thomas) Woods, and Tony Collins, all of Sandusky, Glen (Tresa) Collins, Lorain, OH, and Gregory (Carolyn) Collins, Bear, Delaware; fourteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sister, Annie Wright, Sandusky; and brother, Sam Collins, Detroit, MI; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine (Madison) Collins; parents, Willie and Pearlie (McGowan) Collins; daughter, Patricia Jones; sons, Michael Collins and Curtis Collins; granddaughter, Michelle Collins; brother, R.T. Castile; and nephews, Wilbert Lindsey and Robert Lindsey.
Friends may call on Monday, January 7, 2013, from 11 A.M. until time of funeral services at 1 P.M. in the Second Baptist Church, 315 Decatur St., Sandusky. Rev. Reginald Taylor will officiate, with Rev. Bobby Langdon giving the eulogy. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, where the American Legion Post 83 will provide the military tribute.
