Rosa A. Gierich, 107, of Sandusky, died Friday evening, February 8, 2013 in the Great Lakes Transitional Care Center, Sandusky following a brief illness.
She was born in 1905 in Germany, came to the United States in 1927 and had lived in Sandusky since. Rosa was employed for many years at the former Philco Corp. in Sandusky. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Sandusky, where she was the oldest member of the congregation.
She is survived by one daughter: Marion (Rev. Lester) Dumer of Warsaw, Ill., one son: Rudolph (Bette) Gierich, Jr. of Springfield, Va., five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Rudolph Gierich, Sr. in 1991, one grandson: Jeffrey Dumer, her parents: Andreas & Wilhelmina (Roos) Alber, eight brothers and four sisters.
Friends may call Tuesday, February 12, 2013 from 9:00 AM until time of funeral service at 11:00 AM in the Zion Lutheran Church, 503 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. The Rev. John B. Mawhirter will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
