Joseph Janik, 85, of Vermilion and residing in the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky, passed away Monday evening, February 18, 2013.
He had the love and support of his family and the wonderful staff of the Ohio Veterans Home. The staff truly became family.
Joseph was born in Poland on September 24, 1927. He served his country in World War II, and worked in the United Kingdom as part of the Restoration Project following the war. Upon its opening, Joseph transferred to the Lorain Ford plant from Buffalo, New York. He retired after 43 years of employment. He was a member of St. Mary Church in Vermilion. He will be remembered as a loving father and provider.
Joseph is survived by his wife of 49 years, Stacy (Lozinski) Janik; daughter, Annette (Douglas) Bartlome, of Vermilion; son, Paul (Cathy) Janik, of Columbus; 3 grandchildren, Hannah Bartlome, Sarah Bartlome, and Marlowe Janik; brother, Walter; and sister, Stanislawa.
At Joseph's request, there will be no viewing and cremation will take place at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Burial will be in the Ohio Veterans Home Cemetery, with private family services being held at a later date. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.toftfh.com.
